Mary's Malawian adventure

Mary Fallon and Jane Nyirenda dancing in MalawiMary Fallon, a retired teacher from Devon, recently returned from an eye-opening trip to Malawi in May 2009 – the first of our new supporter tours.

In the village of Euthini in northern Malawi, Mary saw the benefits of the Kabiya Dam that had been paid for by a Christian Aid partner.

‘As a farmer’s daughter and a keen gardener, I was overjoyed to see how the dam was changing people’s lives,’ she says.

‘The joy of seeing the difference that our support has made to the farming community in Euthini was only surpassed by the exuberance of our welcome.

‘I couldn’t resist joining in the singing and swaying, and Jane Nyirenda stepped forward to partner me.’
